METROPLEX AQUATICS PHOTOGRAPHY POLICY


Metroplex Aquatics values the use of photography and video to celebrate our athletes, highlight achievements, and document experiences. As part of our commitment to Safe Sport and athlete protection, the following policies and best practices govern the use of photography and video within our program.


General Photography & Video Guidelines

Restricted Areas:

  • Photography and video recording are strictly prohibited in locker rooms and restrooms. Devices with cameras should not be used in these areas.
  • No photography or video recording is permitted behind the racing blocks or of a swimmer exiting the pool. All cameras and recording devices must remain on the sides of the pool.

Content Standards:

  • Action shots must celebrate the sport and should never depict an athlete in a way that could be considered sexualized or inappropriate.
  • Photos or videos must not be taken or retained if they reveal a torn or displaced swimsuit.

Social Media & Sharing Guidelines

  • Any photos shared on social media should adhere to commonly accepted standards of decency.
  • If a teammate, parent, or guardian requests the removal of an image, all reasonable efforts should be made to comply.
  • Athletes posting team-related images on platforms like Instagram should obtain permission from any teammates pictured and remove the image if requested.



Video for Training & Analysis

  • Video may be recorded during training and competition for athlete analysis and review.
  • Training footage is not typically shared publicly but may be used for internal coaching purposes.

Parental Consent & Opt-Out Policy

  • Parents or guardians may withdraw consent at any time by submitting a written request to Metroplex Aquatics. Upon receipt, Metroplex Aquatics will cease publication of images or video of their swimmer(s) in the following:
  • Metroplex Aquatics Website
  • Metroplex Aquatics Social Media Platforms, including:
  • Public Facebook Page
  • Members-Only Facebook Group
  • Twitter/X Feed
  • Metroplex Aquatics Promotional Materials (flyers, brochures, etc.)

Note: This opt-out policy does not extend to images shared by others on personal or unaffiliated social media accounts. However, all team members and families are strongly encouraged to follow the best practices outlined above.

  • By participating in Metroplex Aquatics, members agree to adhere to this policy and respect the privacy and dignity of all athletes.
