Metroplex Aquatics Coach Code of Conduct


The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to establish clear expectations for all members of the Metroplex Aquatics coaching staff. It serves as a guide to promote a positive team environment, uphold professionalism, and foster good sportsmanship.


Coaches agree to:

  • Adhere at all times to USA Swimming’s rules and Code of Conduct.
  • Set a strong example of respect and sportsmanship for athletes, parents, and spectators.
  • Act and dress with professionalism and dignity, reflecting the standards of the coaching profession.
  • Respect officials and their judgment and abide by the rules of competition.
  • Treat opposing coaches, athletes, and spectators with respect.
  • Teach and reinforce sportsmanship, requiring athletes to demonstrate it at all times.
  • Coach in a positive manner, avoiding derogatory or abusive language.
  • Win with humility and lose with dignity.
  • Treat every athlete fairly, impartially, and with sensitivity.
  • Always place the well-being, health, and safety of swimmers above performance outcomes.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development in coaching and teaching youth.
  • Maintain clear and appropriate professional boundaries between coach and athlete.

Accountability

Any complaints regarding a coach’s violation of this Code of Conduct will be reviewed by his/her supervisor and/or the Metroplex Aquatics Board of Directors.
